Monthly Newsletter June – 2018


During this month, Drug Free Pakistan Foundation (DFPF) finalized and announced the candidates for PYC Presidential elections. On 26th June, International day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking was observed; DFPF also shared the message for youth on this day through its social media platform to keep them aware and provide information that can prevent them from using drugs. During this month DFPF also conducted meeting with several national and international donor organizations to share our future initiatives for youth and society.

26th June – International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking


26th June is observed as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking globally. The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed globally to reaffirm the fact that substance abuse is a menace, using it to generate profits is a crime and people don’t need drugs to achieve their fullest potential. The major reasons the youth is attracted towards Substance Abuse are Lack of Self-Awareness, Absence of Self-Esteem, Thrill seeking behavior & curiosity, the inability of countering unhealthy peer pressure & Dysfunctional family. For this day DFPF developed a video message to show the reason youth is getting prone to drugs, also how they can prevent themselves from drugs through different anti-drugs.

PYC Presidential Election Candidates


On 29th June, 2018 DFPF announced the two candidates for presidential elections. These candidates were selected after monitoring and evaluating their applications from the pools of 104 applicants. Jahanzaib Kakar from Quetta and Zakariya Hashmi were the finalist candidates that will contest for the post of President of Pakistan Youth Congress. Online voting procedure and guidelines will be announced and elections will be conducted in the month of July, 2018.
